What is Gulet?
The gulet is a handmade, motorized and sailing boat built entirely from wood for cruising on the Mediterranean coast. Firstly, gulets were produced for fishermen and sponge divers to carry what they caught. Today, luxuriously redesigned gulets are used for yachting holidays. The classic gulet has a round butt and a hull. Today, however, many new designs have been created under the definition of wooden gulet. The round stern in the design of the original gulet limited the number of rooms. New gulets in the “mirror stern” model have therefore become more popular. Today gulets include a large freshwater tank, fuel tank and a waste tank. They have been added to improve comfort on the boat.
However, with this addition, the weight of the gulets increased, so it turned into a pleasure boat rather than a sail. The most commonly used gulets are 4 to 8 double / triple cabins with 8 to 18 people. Each cabin has either a double bed or a double – single bunk bed. The cabinets have a cupboard and a set of drawers where you can put your clothes. Each cabin has its own bathroom and toilet. The gulet has a lounge, bar, indoor restaurant and a fully equipped kitchen. On the stern deck there is an outdoor dining and passenger lounge. While the yacht is not moving, the front deck, which has many sun beds, is covered with a canopy. Stairs used to enter and exit the water follows a straight line down into the sea. Since the electricity on the yacht is between 12v / 24v, you should consider this if you are going to bring things like electric razors, cameras, phone chargers, portable computers. Power tools may only be used when the yacht is connected to land. There is also a refrigerator, a CD player, board games, snorkels, masks and fishing gear to keep drinks cold. If you wish, the fish will be cooked specially for your dinner with pleasure. A small outboard motor, a ship radio, a mobile phone and a life jacket are also on the yacht.
All yachts are approved by the government and are used by qualified captains.
